JROTC is much different from your science class or your math class. In JROTC the students run the program, with the guidance of two teachers the SAI (Major Mingus) and the AI(SGM Fowler). In JROTC, cadets have many opportunities to join various teams, compete against other schools, visit points of interest, and experience different and fun training activities. Cadets have many opportunities to perform community service, participate in many civic and patriotic events and to help serve their school. There are parties and dances for cadets to enjoy and meet other students. There is something here for everyone. By choosing the Ram Battalion, you are choosing the best JROTC program in the state. Our program held at Rogers High School has the title of an Honor Unit with Distinction, which is the highest honor a JROTC program can receive. In this program you can receive .5 Civics, and .5 physical education credits per semester and if you are willing to work a little harder you can receive 2 college credits a year. This class will teach you about land navigation, financial planning, conflict resolution how to become or be a great leader and to be respectful. JROTC is a fun and challenging class to take at Rogers High School, where students receive leadership training and become better citizens.

Teaching military skills at civilian school began in 1819 at Norwich University by Captain Alden Partage.
September 1994, Major Monte Mingus established a JROTC program at Gov. John R. Rogers High School, and the "Ram Battalion".
